Construction knowledge: technical briefing on safe operation of hand-held power tools

1. Machine tools using cutting tools should be kept sharp, intact, correctly installed, firm and reliable.

2. The speed of machines using grinding wheels is generally above 10,000 r/min. Therefore, there are strict requirements for the quality and installation of the grinding wheels. Before use, check the grinding wheel and the soft pad connecting it and install it firmly. The nut must not be too tight. Any grinding wheel that is damp, deformed, cracked, broken, chipped, or has been in contact with oil or alkali must not be used, and the damp grinding wheel must not be used. The grinding wheel blades can be dried by themselves.

3. Handheld power tools have high rotational speeds and large vibrations, and are in direct contact with the human body during operation. Therefore, when working in humid areas or in places with good conductivity such as metal structures, pressure vessels, pipelines, etc., double-insulated or reinforced-insulated power tools must be used.

4. Motors and electrical appliances with non-metallic casings made of engineering plastics should be protected from pressure and moisture during storage and use, and must not come into contact with solvents such as gasoline.

5. Inspection before operation should meet the following requirements: In order to ensure the normal use of hand-held power tools, the following requirements must be checked before operation: (1) There are no cracks or damage in the shell and handle; (2) The cable is soft The wires and plugs are intact, the switch operates normally, and the protective zero connection is correct, firm and reliable; (3) Each protective cover is complete and firm, and the electrical protection device is reliable.

6. After starting, the machine should run without load. Check and confirm that the machine tool linkage is flexible and unimpeded. When working, the force should be applied smoothly and no excessive force should be applied.

7. Overloading is strictly prohibited. In order to prevent machine failure and extend the service life, attention should be paid to the sound and temperature rise during operation, and if any abnormalities are found, the machine should be stopped immediately for inspection. If the operation time is too long and the temperature of the machine exceeds 60°C, the machine should be stopped and allowed to cool down naturally before starting the operation again.

8. During operation, do not touch the cutting tools, molds and grinding wheels with your hands. If you find that they are blunt or damaged, you should immediately stop the machine for repair or replacement, and then continue the operation.

9. Hand-held power tools rely on the operator’s hands to control them. If the operator lets go during operation and the machine tool loses control, it will destroy the workpiece, damage the machine tool, and even cause personal injury. Therefore, when the machine is rotating, do not leave it alone.

10. When using an impact drill or electric hammer, the following requirements should be met:

(1) When working, you should grasp the handle of the electric drill or electric hammer. When drilling, first put the drill bit against the work surface, and then start it with moderate force to avoid shaking; if the speed drops sharply, reduce the force to prevent the motor from overloading, and it is strictly forbidden to use surgical levers. pressurize;

(2) When drilling, attention should be paid to avoiding the steel bars in the concrete;

(3) Electric drills and electric hammers work in 40% intermittent mode and must not be used continuously for a long time;

(4) When the working aperture is above 25mm, there should be a stable working platform and guardrails around it.
